Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FMENA) and The Central Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) signed on the April 10th 2013 Grant contract for the implementation of IPA IIIC project, funded by the EC Fund for investment in science and innovation worth 657.775,75 EUR.

Through advanced research, innovation and technology transfer ARISE project is planning to develop the technical infrastructure in Croatia in the field of surface engineering for research and application of surface layers created by the new PACVD technology.

Project duration is two years and within that time span Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture will work closely with its partners from Rijeka, Slavonski Brod and Ljubljana. The expert associates from Koncar Tools Inc., Elektro - Kontakt Inc. and Lipovica Ltd. will help with the projects practical implementation. Croatia is to gain a state-of-the-art PACVD device, non-existent even in the neighbouring countries!

Finally, all of the mentioned above is to promote scientific research and educational activities at Croatian universities, and to achieve significant collaboration with industry – making domestic manufacturers more competitive in the global market!
